Nearly 4 out of 5 Americans are affected by asthma.

A sample of the general American populace (N=1000) was asked about their experience with asthma. The purpose was to determine whether the person interviewed, a family member, close friend, or co-worker had ever been diagnosed with asthma.

Nearly half of the American public (48%) have experienced asthma themselves, in their household, or in their immediate family. Three out of ten (29%) know friends, co-workers, or others personally who have asthma. Therefore, nearly four out of five Americans (77%) are affected.
